Pass Rate

Pass rate is the percentage of evaluation attempts that result in a successful pass — meaning the trader hit the profit target without breaching any risk limit — and advance to the next phase or to funded status. It is the most direct measure of how difficult a program’s evaluation conditions are in practice.

Industry-wide pass rates across retail evaluation programs sit at roughly 10–15% of all attempts, based on data published by several operators and third-party aggregators. The figure varies significantly between programs and account sizes, and is frequently misrepresented in marketing materials.

Why published pass rates are often unreliable

Pass rate figures require careful interpretation. Common ways they are presented misleadingly:

  • Active versus all-time accounts: A pass rate calculated on currently active accounts excludes the large number of abandoned evaluations — accounts that were purchased, traded briefly, and then left dormant without formally failing. Including abandoned accounts typically lowers the pass rate significantly.
  • Phase 1 only: Some programs report pass rates per phase rather than as an end-to-end funded rate. A 30% Phase 1 pass rate and a 50% Phase 2 pass rate do not yield a 30–50% funded rate — the combined rate is 30% × 50% = 15%.
  • Self-selected samples: Pass rates reported by affiliates or review platforms are drawn from their own user bases, which may not be representative of all traders.

What a credible pass rate disclosure looks like

A meaningful pass rate disclosure states: the denominator (all purchases, or all active accounts, or all accounts that placed at least one trade), the numerator (phase 1 passes, or funded accounts granted, or funded accounts that received at least one payout), the time period covered, and the methodology. Without these four elements, a pass rate figure is not independently verifiable and should be treated with appropriate scepticism.

FundedProp’s pass rates — when sufficient data exists to publish them — will be disclosed with their methodology, including the months when the numbers worsen. That commitment is part of the Trust Centre.
