Consistency Rule

A consistency rule is an evaluation requirement designed to cap how much of the total profit can come from a single trading day or single position — for example, no one day may account for more than 40% of the profit target.

The stated purpose is to reward repeatable performance over one lucky trade. In practice, consistency rules are among the most misunderstood mechanisms in trader evaluations: the formula varies widely between firms (percentage of target vs percentage of total profit, per-day vs per-position), and some implementations are evaluated only at the moment a payout or pass is requested — meaning a trader can believe they have passed and discover otherwise later. Before any evaluation, confirm three things: the exact formula, when it is checked, and what happens to the account if it is violated — a reset, an extension, or a fail.
