A funded account is a simulated trading account granted to a trader after successfully completing a program’s evaluation process, carrying a larger notional capital size and entitling the trader to a share of the simulated profits generated under the program’s rules.
The funded account is the commercial product the evaluation is designed to gate access to. Everything in the evaluation — the profit targets, risk limits, minimum trading days — exists to determine whether a trader’s approach is compatible with operating a funded account within the program’s published rules.
What changes at the funded stage
Several conditions typically change when moving from evaluation to funded:
- No profit target: The funded account does not require hitting a profit target to remain active — the trader simply manages risk and withdraws profits per the payout cycle.
- Payout eligibility: Funded traders can request withdrawals of simulated profits according to the payout cycle terms, at the published profit split.
- Same risk limits: The daily loss limit and maximum drawdown remain in force. Breaching either ends the funded account in the same way it would end an evaluation.
- Scaling eligibility: Many programs make the scaling plan available from the funded stage, allowing consistent performers to grow their account size over time.
Simulated versus real capital
A funded account in a prop evaluation program is a simulated demo account — no real capital is provided to, held for, or traded by the participant. The account operates in a simulated environment; performance rewards are calculated on simulated results under the published program rules and are not derived from real-market trading. This distinction is material and should be stated plainly by any program; if it is not, that is a signal worth noting.
What ends a funded account
- Breaching the daily loss limit or maximum drawdown — the same hard limits as the evaluation.
- Violating a prohibited trading rule (overnight restriction, hedging ban, EA restriction — wherever applicable).
- In some programs: extended inactivity beyond a defined period.
For the terms that govern funded account operation, see profit split, payout cycle, scaling plan, daily loss limit, and trailing drawdown. FundedProp’s funded account conditions publish in full in the rulebook before any evaluation opens for purchase.
FundedProp provides simulated trading evaluations. All accounts are demo accounts; no real capital is traded by participants. This is not investment advice.
